My story is pretty straight forward. I loved sewing and wanted to make a little extra money on the side doing something that I love. As a stay-at-home-mother you feel a need to bring in some type of income to benefit the family. Before the kids I was a free-roaming, hot-to-trot sales executive who sported Gucci bags, a souped-up Tacoma and a go-get-those-sales attitude. Mamas...and Dads you know that the kids change everything. I popped out 1 boy and after the second one was almost here and we lost out sitter I layed down my big sales book and pointy heels and decided I was going to stay home with the kids. Cut to the chase, after a few months I craved people, missed the customers and the freedom of roaming the streets in my g-ride and so wanted to step my now mama-slipper sporting feet into a high end retail store just to breathe in the rich smell. I NEEDED RETAIL THERAPY. I had been sewing shorts for the kids and oh yeah, I also have a BA in Fashion Design, ha! I made a few zipper bags and friends really liked them. My Aunt e-mailed me the link for etsy and I looked at it but thought it was waaaay out of my league. How could I manage it? It seemed like a huge task. But it stayed in the brain. I went back a few months later and started an account. During the kids' nap times and late at night I slowly went through the steps of sewing items, photographing and listing items. Low and behold a few weeks into it and about to give up from discouragement... A SALE! And another one. Sales starting popping up randomly......and it goes on from there. I'm not upto 10,000 plus sales or anything even close but I get a BIG GRIN on my face everytime my phone makes that "ca-ching" sound when I make a sale. Someone likes my stuff!
